ZooMoozik Interview With Travis

Posted in tech by chrisbradley on the January 15th, 2008

I wanted to get prepared for our conversation, so I wrote out these questions.
If you want to start filling them out in e-mail, it will help me keep a record of stuff.
You might also know I’m something of a journalist, you might be able to use it later.
Let me know what you think.
Talk to you at 10.

-Chris Bradley

Digital Noise Control
What are the main benefits of being a ZooMoozik artist?
Travis : A. the main benefits are in how an artist uses our 3-tiered support system: We offer marketing and promo tools, digital distribution, and career support/A/R support.

What is exactly included with the Stadium Package, and what can I do and not do?

Travis:

  1. Your best bet is to refer to the STADIUM PACKAGE BENEFITS link: http://www.zoomoozik.com/bandPackageSummary.jsp The most important thing you can do to gain leverage and create opportunity is to sell MP3’s and ringtones. This ultimately will allow us to create opportunity for you. Some common untrue assumptions are that: we book gigs, we shop record deals, that we do all the work. The business model is based on a 50/50 split, and the artist needs to work equally as hard to promote themselves. That’s why we provide the A/R support. To guide those efforts.

The most succesful artists on zoomoozik are the ones who use these tools to the best of their ability to grow the exposure of their music.

I think I understand the royalty timeframes in the contract, could you elaborate?

Travis :

A. 120 days to receive your 1st check. You must sell 20(I believe) mp3’s to generate a check.

How soon can we start pushing my mp3’s?

Travis:

A. Immediately

Do you have the data you need on file?

Travis:

A. Your page looks fantastic!

What did you think of the airtime I got yesterday?

Travis:

A. Will listen today. Didn’t have a chance yesterday. Will try before we talk.

Was it helpful to know that I have good contacts in the NYC area?

Travis:

A. I think it’s helpful for both of us. Any creative ideas you may have –talk with your A/R person..they will be psyched to see that you are looking to co-op ideas.

Were you aware I have a friend in the UK who owns a small record label and would like to help out? (Aurora)

Travis:

A. No.

Starting Over.

Posted in Uncategorized by chrisbradley on the January 13th, 2008

Suffice it to say I am happier this new year. I’ve had a few major changes - done some early spring cleaning. Bought a laptop - music keyboard (Emu x61) and Cubase - and I’m ready to roll on some new tracks.

You can get my first here : http://www.mediafire.com/?awjtk4nd0jd

its called The Lollypop Kids by Digital Noise Control (c) 2008. Special thanks to Photek for the incredible breaks.

Anyway - I’ve been moving in some new directions - got a Cell Phone - KYOCERA M1000 Lingo…with Qwerty Keys…

Attending a stress group…just trying to mellow out.

Drop me a line somewhere - you know the e-mail chrisbradley@noisecontrolpublishing.com

:)

BTW - the family is doing well.

An Open Apology to the FOSS community at OFTC 11/6/07.

Posted in Uncategorized by chrisbradley on the November 6th, 2007

I can say for certain I have crossed the line of reason at times. I would like to apologize to you collectively for that.
Not being aware of who all these nicks are attached to - I cannot be certain that I am doing any of you a service or making any friends. And I don’t expect really that that’s how it would go anyway.
What I will say is that through talking things out with some people significantly older and wiser than I am - I have come to the conclusion that I have misplaced a lot of anger for the wrong things with the wrong people - and acted without evidence or clear judgement on a number of things.
And through those actions / words / selected thoughts - I have crossed a lot of people.
All I can hope for is a more balanced future - and a more balanced way of carrying out day to day conversations with the very real people in a very real universe of interesting places, things and conversations.
I have made the error of issuing personal judgements on certain members of the community based on what my standards of normalcy from my viewpoint which has only seen about 1/3 of the United States and part of Canada. Which means in terms of allowing myself to understand other cultural norms has been challenging.
(not sure if I phrased a complete sentence there.)
To phrase it better - I have been influenced by Mass Media - which has fairly well brainwashed me into following a set of customary guidelines and rules for interacting with people that has discounted any other world view as having any kind of impact on how things might be managed for the betterment of humanity.
That doesn’t mean I am not responsible for my choices - associations - friendships - or contacts.
And especially my creations or things I have taken apart. Or things I have made attempts to create - or take apart.
And so I plan to issue retractions / and removals of data from the internet over the course of the next few days - which state exactly this - and make it clear that I cannot exist in an empty space. I need to have people to connect with - that are of the caliber of the people in several IRC networks - including Freenode and OFTC - and that regardless of their decision to accept or reject this attempt to make ammends - I will stand by my concern for the expression that I have made severe errors in judgement at times - and am well willing to accept that I not only lost 4 good months worth of progress information in the FOSS world - I also lost friends - peers - and advocates in the process.
With that said - I will sign my name to this - step outside for a few minutes - collect the complete content of what I have posted here - and move on.
Thank you for your hospitality to this point - Sincerely, Christopher J. Bradley - http://www.noisecontrolpublishing.com
